Alumni and friends gathered at the Atlanta Alumni Center to meet Gene Younts, author of “We Are What We Were-Memories of Rural North Carolina.”
Alumni, students and friends brought non-perishable foods by the Wray-Nicholson House to help Beat Tech in the Beat Tech Food Drive. UGA was the winner in the competition raising twice as many pounds of food as Georgia Tech.
Fellow women of UGA gathered together at the Miller Learning Center to hear breast cancer specialists present information and to hear inspiring stories from survivors. Women of UGA hosted an event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, in Athens on October 28. Ashley Morrow ‘00, mission delivery manager for the American Cancer Society presented information about Breast Cancer detection and prevention. Women from across campus and the Athens-Clarke County area were also able to visit with representatives from St. Mary’s Hospital and Athens Regional. The representatives answered numerous questions, concerning insurance and new mechanisms for detection. Avon provided a breast cancer awareness bracelet to each guest.
The UGA alumni Association and the Terry College of Business hosted a Red and Black Alliance gathering for UGA Alumni who work together at SunTrust downtown. The event took place at the SunTrust Plaza. Terry College Professor Rick Watson presented his educational program that is bringing free online textbooks to underdeveloped countries.
The Black University of Georgia Alumni Network (BUGAAN) held its first “Blackout” tailgate gathering on Homecoming at Myer’s Quad. Many sororities, fraternities, groups, former athletes and even some current UGA students enjoyed food and fun before and after the game.
UGA alumni and friends gathered at the Wray-Nicholson House on Oct. 17 to enjoy Sonny’s BBQ and music from John Dunn and the Jazzmen. Hairy Dawg and the UGA Cheerleaders pumped up the crowd to get them ready to cheer on the Dogs.
Students and alumni gathered at the Tate Center for food, giveaways and fun while browsing UGA’s Official Class Rings.
UGA Alumni Association Members gathered at the Bookstore to receive an exclusive 20% discount. Special guests included Uga VII, Loran Smith and Kent Hannon.
Alumni and friends gathered at the Tate Center to hear Darrell Huckaby ‘75, ‘96, who signed his new book “A Southerner Looks at all Fifty States.”
The UGA Alumni Association visited Oconee Primary School to hand out gifts and refreshments to the teachers and administrators who are UGA grads in appreciation for all they do for our state.
